Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Neuropsychologist (FAPS, FCCLP, FCCN)
PhD, DPsych (ClinNeuro & ClinPsy), BSc (Hons)
Leander is a Clinical Psychologist & Clinical Neuropsychologist who offers therapy services to adults particularly in the areas of anxiety, depression, interpersonal issues, chronic illness, adjustment to life changes (e.g., retirement, grief, etc…), & caregiving-related concerns. She also has experience working with people living with dementia and their families to assist them as they embark on that journey.
Leander works within a strengths-based framework, designed to enable & encourage functioning at as high a level as possible in the individual’s current context, therefore building on the individual’s sense of self-efficacy and well-being. She primarily relies on cognitive behaviour therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, narrative therapy and reminiscence therapy as her main methods of treatment.
Leander completed a Bachelor of Science (Psychology – First Class Honours) at the University of Southern Queensland, followed by a Doctor of Clinical Neuropsychology and Clinical Psychology at The University of Queensland. Her research thesis for the DPsych was focused on working with people living with dementia, exploring ways of scaffolding changes in cognitive abilities. Leander subsequently completed a PhD, her thesis this time focused on wisdom in older adults.
Leander is available Monday evenings and every second Wednesday morning, and is currently accepting new clients on her waiting list. Please contact us for more information.
