Linda has a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and Clinical Geropsychology (DPsych)(Clin & Gero) (geropsychology is the psychology of older adults), preceded by a Bachelor of Psychological Science (BPsychSc; Hons I), from the University of Queensland. Linda is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and recognised as a provider of clinical psychological services under Medicare. Linda is a full member of the Australian Psychological Society and a member of their Clinical College. Linda is also recognised by The Psychology Board of Australia as an approved supervisor for psychology Interns and Registrars, as well as Higher Degree students on placement.
Linda works with adults, couples, and older adults, addressing a range of problems and using strategies and techniques from evidence-based therapies (in particular, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, and The Gottman Method). Linda is passionate about the issue of access to psychological services, particularly for older adults, and providing the best evidence-based treatment.
As a Clinical Geropsychologist, Linda has experience working with older adults, assisting with difficulties including anxiety, depression, grief and loss, adjustment difficulties (for example, retirement, loss of spouse, chronic or severe health difficulties, transition to residential care), fear of falling, and relationship difficulties.
Linda also has a particular interest in assisting caregivers with coping strategies and in managing stress, anxiety, and depression.
Linda’s practice has a strong focus on couple therapy. The treatment approach used is The Gottman Method, an integrative, evidence-based therapy based on over 40 years of research.
